whats this computer controlled timing? how the hell does it do that? and what cars have this? and to set timing do all u need to do is line up the marks on the gears? and if u want to advance do u advance the cam or crank gear and do u need to mess with the distibutor or ignition or anything?

i can answer a couple of questions, but not all. the marks on the timing gears should line up on the INTAKE stroke of cylinder 1. pull a plug, and tap the ignition until you feel it go (pst) out of the hole. then you are on the intake or exhaust (youll know) i wouldnt mess with adjusting the timing unless you have adjustable gears. we have same space motors, you mess up the timing all your valves go blewy. the crank gear never moves, it has a slot in it to prevent it from doing just that. distributor and ignition should fix themselves. on older chevy 350's you just twisted the distributor to change the timing, not the timing gears. computer controlled timing... at least in my head is impossible.

It's DIS or Distributor-less Ignition System, you have no distributor, just a pair of coil packs controlled by the ECM.

so say i was to change my timing belt would the cam move at all? and thanks
