intake gasket question

i have a 92 exlporer with a 4.0, its a 4x4. how hard is it to change the lower intake gasket? some people say you have to take the valve covers off and take the intake apart to get to the bottom. others say just unbolt the lower intake and pull the whole thing out. what way should it be done?

4.0 OHVs require removal of the upper intake and valve covers, but 4.0 SOHCs only require removal of the upper intake.

There was no 4.0 sohc in 1992.
You will need to removed your valve covers and upper intake.
This leak is VERY common on your engine.
