2001 cobra gets stomped

As usual Im out with my friend Mark and were cruising around in my car looking for some action. I cross through an intersection and as soon as i get through, an 01 cobra makes a left onto my street and I can see him coming up quick in my side mirror. I get over to the right lane so he can pass me on the right, but he catches up and slows down beside me. He has a passenger with him and the driver downshifts to second and floors it. I just watch him and then proceed to get behind him since he wanted to race. He pulls into a parking lot and stops and I pull up beside him. First thing he asked is if i wanted to race and I agreed. I told him to follow me out to Highway 30. I made sure I babied it out there so he wouldn't hear my bov. :naughty:
I lead the way and we eventually get onto Highway 30. Were doing about 55 mph, so I figured I would do a 3rd gear pull first and see how I do. I goose it a couple times to let him know im ready, and this time you could definetely hear my bov, so he knew I had to be packing a turbo. I let him get the jump, and then I floor it. Immediately, Im pulling hard and and i think after he was about a carlength back and wasnt making up any ground, he just gave up. We did that a couple times with the same results.
He pulls up beside me and says we need to go from a lower gear, so I slow down to about 45 and put it in 2nd. By the time he actually bites, were doing about 55 and my RPM's are at about 5,000 I have about 1,000 rpms until my powerband starts to drop. Again, I let him get the jump and were off. End of second gear, were dead even as I suspected. Shift to 3rd, and wind it out to 4th and hes about 3-4 car lengths back.
We slow down and pull a u-turn. He turns before i do and takes off, so i hurry up to catch up to him. We do a high rpm 3rd gear pull and most of 4th. We probably get up to 120 mph and hes about 3 car lengths back and I hammer down on the brakes. He pulls up to me and his passenger asks if I was spraying that time. I told him I didnt have nitrous.
We go back to the local car hangout and shoot the breeze for awhile. Him and his passenger were cool guys. Turns out his 01 cobra his completely stock and he just wanted to see how he would do against a contour, which im guessing he originally thought wasnt turbocharged. All runs were made on 10 psi and my 19" wheels. No clue how much hp the 19" wheels eat up, but with 8 psi, I put down 307 whp, 301 wtq at the dyno the week before with my 17" wheels.
Cliff notes: Me vs 01 Cobra
3rd gear pull - Not sure where he shut down, if at all, but he was 3 car lengths back.
2-3 gear pull - Even in 2nd, same results in 3rd.
top of 3rd-4th gear - me ahead by 3 car lengths.

Awesome kill, especially a cobra..those cars stock are mid 13's 1/4/under 6 sec's 60....i believe.
Also, it's good to see there are mature people out there, rather then some d*ckweed shouting off WHY you whooped them.
Good kill, btw i love that contour....what a sleeper.

most impressive, have you ever run your car at a local drag strip 1/4 or 1/8 mile? Very curious to know how quick that thing is.

Good kill. I'm sure you catch alot of people off guard. I know my car would be hard pressed to keep up with you.

The cobra's 0-60 is supposed to be under 5 sec (no I am not talking about the supercharged 03-04), the comparable GT is supposed to be under 6. That cobra is a fast car. Makes the contour he's got even more impressive.

Not yet. I still want to get another tune before I go down. Not sure if you looked at the other thread but at 4,700 rpms on 16 psi i was hitting 13:1 air/fuel. I want get that adjusted and after that I should be right around 410 whp or so. If theres anymore power left in turbo, ill be going higher than 16 psi. Then after that, I'll be sending my pcm to the company that made my turbo kit so they can just burn my tune onto a chip that I can dial my timing manually, so I can run bump the timing up when i dump in some 113 octane race gas.
Id say right now though, Im probably around mid 13s. If I were a rwd car, id easily be in the high 12s i think, but traction sucks off the line, and the SPEC 3 clutch certainly doesnt help since I cant slip the clutch at all for a nice launch.
