I need to do the following, and am somewhat unsure of how to go about it. If possible, someone please tell me how to:
Test MAF sensor (other than looking at it)
Test MAP
Test EGR
Test computer
Check vacuum hoses for pinholes and other non-visible damage
I know this makes me seem stupid, but I just don't wanna make a problem that's not already there.
Thanks,
-Shifty

"Not to mention, when I tried to talk to anyone other than jade, my concerns were ignored."
If you look, you will see that I responded to your "Dumb headlight question"!!!!! When someone is troubleshooting a problem it IS helpful to know if any codes are or aren't showing. All you had to say was that no codes were found. You posted your "few tech questions" last night. Give someone a chance to respond before you start dising the group. As far as your MAF question goes- maybe no one in this group has installed a larger one so your question can't be answered here. I didn't want to respond to you anymore in joda1tyme's thread because I didn't think it was fair to him. With your attitude maybe "flewthecoupe" can help you.

Jesus f'in Christ man, look... I don't care what your problem is, but the fact stands that no one was responding to me. I had posted NOTHING about codes being pointless, I have NOT "dissed" the group, nor do I see the point in your starting fights on forums. If you're gonna tell me something useful, I'd appreciate it. Other than that, keep the drama to yourself.
As far as mods and problem details, I'm just trying to check everything, as everything under the hood is as stock as it gets.
As for the problem I DID have, I fixed it today. My injectors were clogged due to a lack of fuel filter, and debris in the gas. Had to rebuild the whole d*mn thing. Anyway, problem solved, just need someone with experience, and who can be an ADULT about things to let me know how to test these parts.

The reason I didn't reply with the codes is because THERE ARE NONE. So apparently, IT'S NOT HELPFUL.
Not to mention, when I tried to talk to anyone other than jade, my concerns were ignored. My "A few Tech. Questions" topic has been ignored as well.
I don't have a problem but you do. I'm not starting a fight but just stating the facts. When troubleshooting a problem any information, including whether or not codes are showing, is used to guide you in the direction of solving a problem that can have multiple reasons for occurring. I had tried to help you in the past and just because no one had responded within 24 hrs doesn't mean you were being ignored. You sound like a 2 yr old having a tantrum when no one pays attention to them instead of an 20 yr old ADULT wannabe. ;)

Do we need an attitude adjustment here?

I need to do the following, and am somewhat unsure of how to go about it. If possible, someone please tell me how to:
Step 1: go get a $30 code reader and run the codes.
Test MAF sensor (other than looking at it) Step 2: Clean it and if no codes came up, don't worry about it.
Test MAP Step 3: Reread the second half of step 2.
Test EGR Step 4: Reread step 2.
Test computer Step 5: Reread the second half of step 2.
Check vacuum hoses for pinholes and other non-visible damage Step 6: Spray everything with carb cleaner, brake cleaner and if the motor wants to die, you have a leak. Alternatively, you could use propane or ether and if the engine revs, you have a leak.
I know this makes me seem stupid, but I just don't wanna make a problem that's not already there.
Step 7: Don't take offense to the last line of my sig.
Thanks,
-Shifty
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Thanks, flewthecoupe, finally an intelligent answer. Did all that, and continued testing other parts. Found that the fuel pump had a short in its ground wire. Go figure, right? Why didn't I think of that earlier... Anyway, for anyone that has this problem in the future, listen to your fuel pump when the car starts. It should have a smooth whine, much like 97bird ;) If it doesn't, or if you hear a crackle, you have the same problem I had.

At least the whine is from my car and not from me because I'm being ignored in this forum! :cya: Anyway, I'm glad you fixed the short in the ground wire!
