Rattle in gear shift

I have a rattle around my gear shift in my 1999 Acura Integra 2-door. I'm trying to remove the plastic arm rest that surrounds the shifter, and I can get the arm rest piece off (the one that surrounds the hand brake) but I can't get the rest off. Could someone direct me to a site that might have step by step instructions on how to do this.

I have the same problem with my gearbox but it does not rattle it hums. I had my friend lift up the car and take a look on the bottom of the car and he said everything look good only my heat shield was loose and he removed it, but it still hums when I shifting gears or rev up the engine its weird and annoying.

I'm still hoping to get a reply. Just looking for any site that might give me a step-by-step guide to removing the console part covering the gear shift.
