When my a/c is NOT on, hot air blows through the vents (without the fan being on). I've been told that the "blend door motor" is not working. The a/c works great. Anyone know anything about this motor?

it should be around the heater core area.
Maybe the hot air is coming from outside?

It is the blend door motor - also referred to as "switch door motor". According to the mechanic, it can only be purchased via the Dealer - at a cost of around $190.00 - hopefully, I can find it in a junker somewhere.
When it was removed (from under the dashboard), we found that the plastic gear wheel inside was cracked - therefore, the door was stuck in the open position for "heat". Since I don't have the green to replace it now, we put the door in the "cool" position and it is no longer blowing hot air. However, it needs to be replaced before winter or I will be freezing my a** off!

Try epoxy to put the thing back together.

Where exactly is the blend door unit located. (In a 98 Blazer)?
EDIT: Oops; found topic through search. Hope it's not too old. I didnt want to start a new topic.

I just replaced my blend door. It too was stuck on hot. It really was not that bad. You need to take the dash completely out. You also need to remove the heat core (I replaced the heat core). The motor only cost me 56.00 at the dealer and the heat core was 60.00 at NAPA.
