Yeah maybe I thought it might be a short maybe Ishould unhook the battery feed to the alternator and check to see if I tightened it enough..I dont know

You should have recharged your battery before installing the new alternator.

the noise means your regulator is screaming, the alternator is fine, but you have another wiring problem. check your battery cables for corrosion damage, weak grounds, and all that. and charge your battery.

Is the belt slipping? Could be a bad bearing, but not very likely. Maybe the regulator like 89 said. Once the car is running, you can disconnect the battery, and it should not die, unless you're not getting power from the alternator. Charge the battery, a dead battery will strain you're alternator.

Hey guys I think I may have found out what the loud noise coming from my alternator was...I found that the fan of the alternator was rubbing up against the metal base of the alternator....Well I have to wait an hour for my battery to be charged beats buying a new one....If I have any problems or you htink the fan rubbing up aginast the alternator was the cause for the loud noise I would appreciate some feedback...I checked the serpentine drive belt that looks fine...All I did was take a wrench and move back each fan blade so it would not touch the alternator hopefully this will work.... :uhoh:

ehhh,
BAD IDEA! Those blades turn an extreemely high rpm and see some stress. Would be none different then trying to "straighten" a belt driven cooling fan, you're taking a gamble.

yeah I readgusted the fans on the alternator just a little bit no more sound...prrrrrs. like a kitten....I drove my car around for an hour and all was good.....?...I just bought a new battery because my old one was no good....right now when I turn it on it is in the top of the beginning of the red lines for battery power....could this mean that the alternator is not working..I mean its brand new....does it take time for the battery to build up...I mean its new I would not think so ...It was running for over an hour and I didn't see any power drop in the battery but it stayed in the red.....I don't know I think Im gonna take it to a shop so they can run a diagnostic test......anybody got any ideas...how much does a diagnostic test cost anyways..

well the mono amp is 2500, the 4 channel is 300 per chan an i threw in a fared cap so not to kill the battery when the 12in sub hits at 1500. im guessing the 140 amp alt is good enough, better than most other alts which are like 90amps but im never sure

Well guys I went back to auto zone and had my brand new alternator tested...it failed....they gave me another one and I said u gotta test this one for me too and it passed....So I installed the alternator bought a new battery because mine is old anyways.....and guess wheat the voltage meter is still reading low on my battery meter gauge....I used my voltmeter and found out no juice was running bck into the battery...Now I gotta buy new wires tommorrow I will let you guys know.....dammn first time ever fixing a car but I'm learning alot...hopefully It will be fixed by tommorrow.....I chucked all my fuses and the only thing I see wrong is the + return on the battery line... I'm going :screwy:

lol, it usually works out that way. my brother bought his bronco to "learn" and has sense then replaced the engine, fuel system, wiring system, and is redoing the exhaust and interior. just a little learning project he said. the dumbass. gotta give him props though, hes done most of the work himself, ive only double checked things to make sure they were done right. and we only started one electrical fire lol.

mmm ah yes, i hear that, no ac for me either, ill turn the ac or heater on an it sounds like the blower fan is just making noise an its not pushing any air into where im sitting, ontop of that the heater core started leaking coolant and so its just sitting until i can bypass the core, but id really like to get some air in the cab! (cant think of what to call the inside of the car!)
