Im confused, people tell me buells are crappy, and people tell me they're good. I know they are made by harley, so are they good street bikes?
Any input would be appreciated.

It's the Harley issue....people either love them or hate them....and the Buells get caught up in this.
Buells, like any decent sport bike is meant to be functional. They certainly have the handling and the image down pat, but compared to other big (read:expensive) sport bikes, the engines are a bit down on power, and tend to be relatively low-revving. I find their power band to be fairly narrow, too. One must work hard on the gear box to take advantage of the narrow range of maximum torque and power.
On the other hand, they are easy to ride. They are narrow bikes and easy to control, a bit like a Ducati.
The low end power makes moderate riding easy and nearly effortless.....like a crusier bike.
But is you wanted easy cruising, why buy a sport bike in the first place?
Personally, a Buell would not be my choice for a sport bike, unless I was truly hung up on having an American made bike.

yeah, buells are kind of left in the dust when compared to the other bikes in their class.....i don't know why the US doesn't make a great sport bike...i'm sure we could....or maybe there is one i haven't heard of???

The V rod is an awesome bike , but its not exactly a sports bike, or a croch rocket.

my friend has an 04 buell xb12r. it's a wheelie machine, and from what he tells me it handles awesome, but it's not the fastest, off the line it moves, but he'll get beat by most newer 600's in the 1/4.
