soaked in degreaser then power washed with warm water i sabout the only way I know of.
But, you "found" a can of degreaser? The stuff breaks down, especially if it's been sitting in your garage in heat/cold.

yeah, you have to let it soak for a few minutes. It actually works best after running the motor for few to heat the surface.
and, if you go through extreme temp varations over the year, yes, stuff goes bad quick. every spring I find myself restocking.

Engine is out? Good. Simple green and a paint brush to scrub it a bit, then hose it off.

is the intake manifold iron or aluminum??? cuz if you are going true chevy style an iron intake should be painted orange with the rest of the engine, and if its aluminum, you shuld leave it nekked
Jcrane88

lol, why would chevy use orange to paint their engines instead of red? lol, you said it your self 'chevy is red bowtie', so why not use red instead of orange?

i know its clean now but i was told by a mechanic the oven cleaner will clean the helll outta engine parts, but that was after i used 9 bottles of degreaser already.

What about Oven Cleaner? Or is that stuff bad for the engine?

the chevy racing red bowtie didnt arrive until later. im not sure why chevy chose orange for the engines, but all the engines back in the day were orange. you can actually buy the color. "chevy orange" in enamal paint. Im sure if the red racing bowtie was around, the racing engines at least would have been painted red.

200 proof rubbing alchol will clean the human soul! shoulda tryed that, just make sure you wash it down with water aftwords, so's not to have a bondfire for an engine compartment!

oh... well im gonna paint my engine black with some red... you cant really do designs on an engine... eventually it will get dirty and no one will see it any way but i think black and red will go with ym car theme nicely :)

oh shit, i didnt know you were over there serving. im not very elequent, so
Thank you.
but that being said. last night on overhaulin, it actually made me kinda sad, they took what looked like a 1970 hemi charger, or challenger (im not really up to speed on mopar) it was beautiful, all originial, factory sassy grass green paint, black hood, black intereor. it was amazing. they stripped the paint, painted it two tone, black below the window sill and a custom lime green above (it was a really big deal to keep the green cuz the owner loved it) and threw 19 and 20in chrome rims on it. The end result was a hot car, i mean come on, chip foose did it. but to tear up a car that was in that great of condition and loose all that made it original to me was kinda sad.
Thank you.

lol, well dont get me wrong, it wasnt mint condition or even fully restored, it had a little bondo, and a little rust, but it was otherwise solid, it was probly an 80% car, maybe 90%
as for pimp my ride, i will say they do some pretty cool shit, or at the very least creative. but has anyone noticed, that pimp my ride does almost exclusivly girl cars???? i wonder if there is a behind the scenes method of payment for the work done.......
but anyway, as soon as these shows started i warned my family not to do it to me. ive got way too specific of plans for my car to let anyone screw it up.
