leaking fuel sending unit

one of the lines on top of the unit is leaking. it is near the connector. it could be the "O" ring in the connector but the line is a bit rusty.

so .. my question is . can anyone think of away to repair this without dropping the tank.

any ideas would be appreciated.

I don't see a way to get your hand up there without dropping the tank.

Taking the tank down should be easy with some air tools and a looong extension. There are straps holding the tank up, which are secured to the car near the top of the tank. You'll want to remove the filler tube first, as it will be in the way when it's time for the tank to come down.

Once you have the tank down it is quite easy to work on.

Sorry didn't have another solution for you; I tried to reach up there and got my hand stuck and a face full of gunk. :)

Make sure it is close to empty before you start! Makes it a lot easier to handle!

thanks for your replies.right now i don't have a place to do the work myself. i guess i will pay the 150.00 dollars they want to drop the tank and put in a used unit i got from a friend.
