ac probs

i have a 1995 chevy that i have had constant problems with the ac. I had someone work on my ac when i first got it and it hasn't been the same. i finally thought i fixed the problem by grounding to my dash support, but now i can only turn my ac to the third level, it will not run on max. is my ground bad? any suggestions would be great
