but the pictures background said copyright and the year was 2000 weird huh? yes. i think they only update the most frequently visited/interesting points of attractions.

It made my week.
City areas have better resolution than the country, but I can literally make out every house I ever lived in. It's almost as if I expect to see people I know. A little scary. If this is the civilian accessable stuff, what does the government have?
Interesting notes:
I checked out Iraq, didn't find any WMD.
Some areas are blacked out, such as military bases and "area 51."
The pictures are a collage over a large time period. Some I've noticed are over five years old (where I work), while others are much more recent (where I used to live).

This app is originally called "Keyhole". I realized this after downloading the google version since it is exactly the same. Allthough, looks like google added more sat images to it, in this one I can see my car in the driveway, unfortunetly it's just a red blur.

Area 51 isn't blocked out, you just can't see very much because the resolution is poor (which is normal for the middle of nowhere) you can look up the lat-lon of various points of interest at Area 51 and put them into google.

There were some other sites that did this a couple years ago. Globeexploer was one, but after awhile it put its logo all over the images so you could hardly see anything. There were some others but I forgot what they're called. If you guys read that creepy cult house thread on dsmtalk, they used one of these to put up images of the house. It was damn creepy! They're also useful for trying to find good paintball areas, lol.
Edit: After looking at side-by-side images of GlobeXplorer and Google, globexplorer has MUCH better images, especially at the closest setting and in rural areas. But it's damn logo is in the way and the image area is about half as big as google's.
