engine light on code po1810

my engine light came on so i took it to auto zone to get it checked. they tested it with their scanner and they said code po1810 came on. it says it has something to do with a transmission sensor. i just bought a hanyes general motors book for cavaliers and it does not give very much on the codes. i would appreciate a little help. thanks in advance. (car is a 1996 chevy cavalier 2.4 engine, and a 4 speed automatic trans axle)
