Where is the cheapest place to find a NEW fuel pump for a 2002 Chevy Silverado 4.3L V6? Everywhere I look is $300! I need it quick.

I'd say take it at $300. Mine was $350 from a local garage.

can check out GMpartsdirect. same parts as the dealers except half the price. literally...half the price..lol

Picked up the pump this morning, $320 from Advanced .... took about 1 1/2 hour to install it. No more whine and no more cutting out above 65!

Did you pull your bed or drop your tank? Whichever way you did it, how did you do it?

We chose to drop my tank since it only had about 3 gallons in it anyway. The inside of the tank was clean by the way, I thought it might have been a gunk problem but it wasn't.
You first need to disconnect the filler neck from behind the gas door. I believe there are 3, 9/32" bolts. This is to avoid breaking it when you lower the tank.
Crawl under the truck and check toward the front of the tank and disconnect the little quick connects for the fuel lines. There was also this box that we removed in front of the tank... don't know what that was but it had one 1/2" bolt and some "sliding clips" on it and it had to be moved to access the fuel line snaps.
You'll probably need a friend to help you set the tank down and get it back up there... a jack and a board may come in handy too.
There are two straps, each with one 15mm bolt in them. You'll need a pretty good lenth extension to get to the bolts. It may be easier to undo the strap toward the front of the truck first. Set that side of the tank down some and disconnect the 2 wire connections that are on the pump.
Remove the pipe clamp from around the filler neck with a 1/4" socket. Pull the filler neck off the tank and just stuff it up in there somewhere out of your way. It has a ground and some kind of vent hose on it for like the rear end?
Undo the strap toward the rear. Those straps only "hang" on, on one side, they need some twisting to come off and get out of the way.
The tank was too tall to get out from under my stock height 2x4 so you'll have to jack up the rear some to slide the tank out.
When the tank comes out it will have the "ends" of those 3 fuel lines you disconnected on it, unclip those. Clean the top of the tank to avoid dropping dirt in it. The pump is held in with a ring type thing that just needs turned a little and the pump pops right out. Use a block of wood (to avoid sparks) and hammer to turn it.
Reinstallation is opposite of the removal. Your new pump should also come with the rubber gasket and don't forget to seat that on the pump before you install the pump assembly into the tank.
Took two of us about 1 1/2 hours and we've never done it before.
