my camaro originally had a problem with coils but never shut off before
I changed one of the coils but now it shuts off and will not turn over
could it be one of the coils or the fuel pump? help me please

99 3.8 v6 standard model after one of the coils were changed it ran okay, but now it won't turn over. Am I suppose to hear the fuel pump when I turn the car on just before cranking it? I really never paid attention before. But I dont hear it, I have plenty of fuel, battery is charge is fine, I'm guessing it might be the fuel pump any suggestions?

sounds like you blew a fuel pump fuse or something, that or the fuel pump relay has gone bad, or the fuel pump itself. disconnect the fuel line at the engine and put a bottle over the end, then turn the ignition on and see if fuel comes out, if not, you have a problem with your fuel system, either the wiring or the pump.

Thanks 89IROC&RS I checked the fuse it was fine the horn relay is the same for the fuel pump the horn works so I swaped relays and horn still works with the fule pumps relay so I cancelled that out i'm going to try the fuel line just like you said looks like this might be a costly repair. that's waht i get for running out of gas so many times

ah HA!!! you ran out of gas several times, suddenly the fuel pump is high on my list of possibilites. probly burned up from lack of gas coverage.

well, if you dont want to drop the tank, you can pull the carpet back, and with a little pre-cut measuring to make sure you have the right spot, cut a hole in the floor over the tank to pull the sending unit, then weld it back in place. depending on your skills or options, it might be easier than pulling the rear suspension and gas tank.

good idea but my skill level on welding and cutting steel on a scale of 1-10 is 0

boo to in tank pumps.

lol, same idea from sending unit.
you dont need to weld it back into place, you can get a peice of metal that is i guess half inch bigger all the way around and then just pop rivet it back into place.

You didn't happen to just put an amplifier or anything in the back of the car did you?

Something along those lines, the comment about the radio is what got my attention.
Once had to diagnose a driveability where the car would just shut off for whatever reason, the Sr. tech thought it was a vats issue. I drove this damn thing around for almost an hour, purred like a kitten. Did the "no-no" of turning the radio on and a good song was on while waiting for lunch. Turned up the vol. which activated the newly installed amp and pow, motor stalled. They spliced the ground for the amp into the ground for the pump, and the two just didn't get along.

my camaro rs would not start , at first it would after trying over and over, eventualy it wouldn't start at all.
I took the car to a mechanic they charged me a bunch of money replaced the computer, the fuel injectors, all kinds of bullshit
that worked for a couple days. then i had the same problem. I found this web site and after looking through thousands of these
discussions, some body told me to check the chip in the key to see if it was connecting, and it wasn't, so I was told to take a diode
that measured the same amount of OHMS as the chip in the key, and connect it to two wires in an orange sleve at the bottom of the
steering column. which would connect the two and compllete a circuit. which worked for a while but one day the car died and still
will not startso i am still looking for answers.
but it did work for a while here's how I did it
1. I took the chip out of the key
2. connect one of the wires in the sleve to each side (be creative)
but.... do not harm the chip....
THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP
