I was wondering if it was possible to fit a glass sunroof panel. I've seen custom SiR glass top replicas (unless they were LHD conversions of the real deal). Could a windshield/glass shop do something like this without it leaking or whatever? Would it cost any more than any other custom fitted window? Do you think this would be better than welding my roof shut? Opinions wanted...

A good glass shop can do any thing. IMO cover it with a fiberglass panel. www.mmrusa.com

But how will it bolt up or stay in place? My headliner is shot and I'm going to remove it. I'm not sure if my car deserves carbon fiber...

to be flat out honest, i don't know as i have never installed one. i have to assume it goes in the same way as your current panel as it replaces it.
if you decide you want one pm me. i'll get you the best deal possible....
you could always order it in the near future and then pick it in aug when everbody is here for the next meet :naughty:

That would be great except for I live on the east coast, and the inners to my sunroof isn't exactly 100% (although the mechanism works the sliders are messed)... hence my dilemma... Thanks though.

carbon fiber sunroof panel
Even better
I never installed fiber glass or carbon fiber sunroof panels on a CRX but I have done it on an older supra. All the factory roof parts removed and the panel was held in by a small lip and some adhesive. Filled in the top seam so it wasn't noticeable.

I think I'm going to go with the original idea of sheet metal welded in place, primer, bondo, more primer and then continue to fix the rest of the body. I'm thinking green paint (sort of like Hybrids but maybe a little lighter)... Hopefully, it'll be cheaper this way...

Okay... going to mig weld sheetmetal to roof and bondo or fiberglass over it. There are a bazillion types of bondo though. Which should I use? Would it be easier to lay fiberglass cloth and hardener over it then sand and primer or just go with bondo putty, hardener, sand and primer? I'm basically going for the dx roof look...
