SSQV Question

The HKS Super Sequential Blow-Off Valve (SSQV) is a dual stage pull-type relief valve. Unlike typical push type blow-off valves, the SSQV will not leak under any level of boost because the boost pressure in chamber "C" keeps the valve closed against its seat (Diagram 1). The SSQV releases excess boost when there is a pressure alteration in chambers "A & B", not by the rate of boost pressure or vacuum in the line. This ensures a quick valve response and complete closure during idle.

Does this mean that a recirculation kit is not needed for this type of BoV or I am understanding this wrong? I understand that venting to the atmosphere is bad because the ECU has already allocated fuel for the air in the intake. I just want to make sure, because I am fixing to buy it and if I need a recirc kit, I would like to get it at the same time for this weekend.

You'll need to get the recirculating kit with that bov. HKS sells the recirculating kit. If you don't mind buying a used hks ssqv and recirculating kit then PM viet_boiiiii cause he is selling his.

Probably, the main reason get the ssqv is because of the cool sound it makes when it releases the air. But, if you have it recirculated, you have to take out the little piece that makes that unique sound to fit the hose to the intake. Therefore, the only other reason to get if you are still recirculating is that it holds boost better than a stock bov.

I personally don't care about the sound it would make. I mainly care about what is best performance wise. I guess being a little up in the "Years" category :banghead: has something to do with it :naughty:

If i was you id save around $180 bucks by not buying the SSQV because 1g dsm bov are upgrade performance parts for 2g eclipses too. Except, its better than a HKS because its recirculated. Being recirculated doesnt mean its better sometimes because good tuners know how to tune their car right *vented* with maft-sfac etc. If you want a bov that will hold a good amount of psi (21-22)*crushed* than get a 1st gen bov. www.dejontool.com has them for expensive but u can find them super cheap on ebay.

I vote HKS for ricer BOV of the decade... second to the RFL maybe (is it sad that i own this one?). Anyway, basically all I know is go cheap with 1g, decent sound and maybe a little better with anything else, or get it done with a Tial. I don't think I know of any BOV running 10's or faster with something but a Tial. They don't recirculate by the way.

No, the BOV valve design doesn't count for anything towards venting. On a sidenote, though, the next DSMlink release should have support for GM MAF, knocking the price to vent down to maybe $100 for MAF and couplers.

Yup, Greddy Type S is a good bov. If you're on a budget then just go with the 1g bov. When is the next version of DSMlink going to be available?
