What is a good way to increase compression. Please keep in mind i'm on a tight budget.

Longer rods, convex piston heads. There are all sorts of ways. Fasterthanu should be able to ecplain better than I.

you can mill your heads, zero-deck your block, put on super thin head gaskets, put in domed pistons, or install a crank that will lengthen your stroke(this one lowers your redline, though because of the increased rotating mass and travel)
all of these except the last one increase compression by decreasing the size of the combustion chamber with the piston at TDC. it's the same amount of air being squeezed into a smaller area, whereas the last one is a larger amount of air (via lengthened stroke) being compressed into the normal sized chamber
