Weak low end on 92 Corolla

I have a 92 corrolla that runs like a champ once the RPMs are up but is weak on the bottom end.
The car had been parked for a couple of yrs and I recently pulled the head had it reworked for my 16 yr old daughter. The compression is near new levels and it easily passed emissions testing but it seems to have a dead spot on low RPMs.
It's almost like the powerband of a 2 stroke dirt bike. I can drive it hard and it's not very noticable but if I try to take off slow and easy (like I normally drive) it seems to bog until the RPMs get up then it takes off.
Anyone have any ideas as far as tuning?
It has new plugs, wires, and distributor, as well as PCV valve, fuel and air filter.

well 4age's always were a bit weak on the side at low rpms... both corollas that i've own start to pull good at 4200 rpm till the redline.
maybe it's normal :)

I guess it could be normal. I'm not used to driving it so it could be that I'm used to my BOMBED Cummins turbo!!
One thing that I've noticed recently though that I don't think is normal is it kinda loses acceleration at certain RPMs in each gear.
Possible timing issue??????

Could be. I have a 92 and now I am experiencing the same low RPM problems. I can set the timeing and then it will jumop right afterwards. I replaced the timing belt and fuel pump. I'll see. Keep me posted if you find something out.
