1998 just bought on ebay!

Hi out there,
My husband just bought a 1998 VW for my 16 year old daughter on ebay! Well when it arrive it we found one headlight not working, the air conditioning does not work and it has overheated. He tried replacing the headlight and fuses. Now he wants the wiring system diagrams. Has anyone had similar problems? Thanks for you reply.

The earlier models had a problem with the headlight sockets overheating and burning out the bulbs. Not a serious problem other than having to replace them more often than you should. That's why you see a lot of Beetles with one headlight off. Grease up the release mechanisms - as once they're rusty, there will be a lot of cursing to get the assembly out.
Don't know about the A.C. Worst guess would be a rock in the condensor - it's low to the ground and right up front.

There is an updated harness for the headlights for the 98-99 beetle that gets rid of the constant bulb burning out. its about 15.00

Ac is problably not working because the car is overheating. Most likely the waterpump is at fault.
