i just bought a eclipse 99 gst and also learned how to drive a stick last week. i just noticed the clutch a lot softer when im cruising for 10 miles in 5th gear. when i try to clutch in that time the clutch is too soft. sometimes i cannot even go to neutral. i still need to struggle for awhile to get my clutch again so i can change gears.

You have one of two choices.
a) Get a new Master Cylinder
b) Get a new slave cylinder.

From my experience, the slave cylinders are always the ones that "eff" everything up. I go through these like crazy, and have probably received about 6 of them through warranty at autozone. Then again, i do have an ACT2600. Anway, check out the boot on the slave cylinder, it's usually the first thing to go, and then it's all downhill from there. Eventually, there'll be no use trying to even use the clutch when shifting.

Sounds like somebody needs to learn how to drive a stick correctly.

if the clutch was recently replaced it could be that it isnt adjusted right at the yoke behind the pedal.

first check behind the clutch pedal and see if there is any fluid by the firewall if there is your master cylinder is bad...if there isnt any fluid it doesnt rule out the master cylinder but you should start with replacing the slave for the mere fact that it is cheaper and it is usually the problem. if that doesnt fix it go ahead and replace the master cylinder...hope you get it figured out
