92 Supreme stalling when braking

I just received a 92 Cutlass Supreme (3.1L) from a friend with the complaint of stalling.
1) It stalls occasionally when braking
2) Will not re-start immediately
3) Engine will miss for a minute after re-start
Anyone had the problem before? This is on a 16 year olds budget so I can't be throwing parts at the problem. This one has me stumped, I've never touched a domestic of this era farther then maintenance (I wrench mainly on older european cars)
Thanks

Is the check engine light on?

No check engine light, and it's not throwing any fault codes.

Does it stall after you have been in high gear for a while? If so then the TCC solenoid may be sticking. To check it unplug the plug located on the top of the transmission. If the problem goes away you have found the problem. If that doesn't cure it you may need to change the crank position sensor as that can cause stalling as well and may not throw a CEL.
Do you know when plugs and wires were changed last? Also you may want to check the fuel pressure as the Fuel pressure regulator can cause similar issues. These are all relatively cheap fixes. Unplugging the TCC will cost absolutely nothing except maybe a few extra bucks in gas.

I just can't get this thing to stall myself. I will unplug the solenoid and give it back for a few weeks and see if it helps after I finish the front brakes. If all gos well for those few weeks we know what to replace.
