I need to know what the top speed is for 2nd gear. Im still running the stock si tranny and Im running 195-50r-15 tires. Im also using the stock ecu so what speed can i get to in 2nd gear before hitting rev limiter. Im trying to get my car ready for the oval track by wednsday. I talked to the guys racing my class and the fast ones said they maybe crested 60mph before slowing into a turn, so i need to make sure i can hit 60mph in 2nd without tripping the rev limiter, because having to shift on the straight would slow me down too much. Ithought if it comes close i could make up the difference by going a larger tire size... any ideas???

i have an si and 60 in second is really really close to redline for me with my 17s a dx or standard 4 spd would have prolly been better if u didnt want to be shifting gears

with my dx tranny i was hitting 105kph with my stock ecu (98kph = 60mph i think) and with my chip i've hit 130kph at about 8000rpm.

i just found a online conversion calc. and 130kph is 80.77 mph. (holy crap) and 3rd takes me to 180kph = 111mph. i've never even got close to the end of 4th or 5th. YET:)

I've got a HF tranny in my car and I've hit 70mpg in 2nd - it pulls from 40 to 70 which is nice. But shifting from 1st to 2nd sucks - but as for circle track racing I wouldn't recommend the si - when I had my si, I would peak around 50 at redline and not much higher at revlimiter - 55 tops I'd say. I would definily get a 4spd, hf or dx tranny, I think they'd work better for you.

i just swapped a dx tranny with the si and personaly i liked the dx better, i just think the gears are too short in the si but they would be good for autocross, circle would take a dx tranny, but thats just m/o.
