I have searched just about every thread in this forum for information on oil pressure problems and have come across a lot of good stuff but I have a few questions that I need answered before I try to apply what I have learned. First off my rig is a '76 chevy c10 with 5.7 my question is is the sending unit for my oil pressure gauge in the seem location as newer engine's and is there only one unit or two like the newer one's (all the info I found was on '85 and newer rigs) also would it be to my benifit if I just replaced my sending unit with a new one or should I just put in a mechanical gauge and be done with it. Thanks for any help and or input it is all greatly appreciated.

You can get a tee and add a mechanical gauge, and leave the electric gauge too. That's why I did in my 88. I have a gauge on the bottom end (electric) and one on the top end (mechanical) Both are within 2-5 psi of each other.

I will give that a shot. I assume then that I have sending units in both locations on top, below distributor and on the bottom of the block above the oil filter. With the tee your talking about would I remove the sending unit, say from the bottom and install the tee and then attach the electric sending unit to it and then on the other side of the tee attach the mechanical gauge. Is that right?
