Tach signal wrong?

I searched for this and suprisingly could not find anything on it. I got an autometer CF tach for my rex. After wiring it in, the gauge seems to be off by about 1000 rpms. I tried wiring it to the tach in the dash, the ecu, and the dizzy. It is off for all of them. Am I wiring it wrong, or is the tach just broken? Thanks

Wait, I lied. It isn't always 1000 over. I guess I've never driven it since it's been in. It appears to be always double. It has a B16 if that matters.

Does it have different settings for 4,6,8 cylinder engines? if so do you have it on the right one?

yea, i was about to say the same thing, and if thats not the case, you might want to try and exchange the tach for another one because i bought an autometer tach about 4 days ago and it was faulty so i exchanged it and it worked fine.

The same thing happened with the civic. I ran the signal wire to the ecu and it was double. I then ran it to the dizzy and it works just fine. I tried the ecu, dizzy, and stock tach wire, and they all give the same reading.
