Hey guys, So my car started cutting out again today, same problem since September 04, and no one can seem to fix it, so after around 20 trips to varous garages and over 1500 spent on it, i think its finally time to get rid of my little civic and maybe get a Integra or prehaps a 3 series coupe. Poor little civic :shakehead

Ok well... When my mom had the car she was convinced it was overheating even though the guage was at normal and the fan was coming on, so she used to use the fan as precaution. When i got the car it has been resting for 4 months and i had been driving it previously for about 2 weeks until one morning it started dying and eventually the battery went dead, when i got a jump start it was fine again, then months later the problem came back as a different form cutting out when revving or cutting out when idle, its not a problem all the time for example i drove about 40 miles yesterday till i got to the city and it started kicking and then eventually i couldnt make it move i had to get into the bus lanes and keep pumping the accelerator to get it to move if i kept my foot in the same place it would keep dying, then i let it rest for a bit and now its working fine again.
what seems strange to me is the gear changes now are a lot easier than it was before, its like its idling higher or something.
So far this is what has been checked/replaced and each time something is replaced it works fine for awhile so maybe its many things.
Its a 91 Civic DX - single carb and no ECU
Alt and battery - fine
clutch replace
dis cap and rotor
full service
tappet adjust
cooling system check
Carb mixture adjust twice
carb solenoid fix
Carb clean
Prob more but cant think, so try and solve this one lol

Don't give up man. You probably just had crumby carb issues. You're in the UK right? There has got to be 4g peeps with carb knowledge over there... ever consider the dual webber side drafts?

Did you happen to have the fuel pump checked, or the spark plug wires? If all else fails, a compression test should tell you the internal health of the engine. $25 at autozone.
