I have just bought a 2002 Chevy Blazer, it came with a 6 disc in dash factory CD player. When I play a CD, the left side speakers cut out. Sometimes there is no sound at all, sometime there is a real faint crackling sound. The rest of the time the speakers work, like they should. When I play the radio all of the speaker work just fine all of the time. Anyone have any ideas??
Thanks
Dan

If the 6-disc changer is in the DIN slot under the main stereo head, yeah - Like 'LT said, check connections. They usually output a stereo audio signal on a pair of RCA style connectors and short cables. If one's loose, it will crackle or not work at all on one side but still allows normal sound when listening to broadcast radio.

Not sure if I understand. I can put up to 6 discs in to the main head unit itself. With this kind of CD player all of the wires that go out to the speakers should be the same for the CD or radio, right? If it would help I could post a link to a radio that looks like mine. I don't have a digital camera.

I would still extract the radio and get a look. There might be jumper wires connecting the disc player to the stereo head unit, though it's one huge unit. (Over-under radio with disc changer on bottom with a common faceplate)

Is it totally random when your speakers are cutting out (while playing cds I mean), or is it just when you're playing burned cds?
If the speakers are NEVER cutting out during radio operation, but are while playing cds that suggests a problem with the media (cds) or the deck itself (such as lens fault).
If it's just by coincidence that your speakers are only cutting out while playing cds (maybe you notice it because the volume is louder), and the speakers do in fact cut out regardless of the mode then you just have wires shorting out somewhere. I don't know how the wires are run through the Blazer as I haven't actually gotten to changing out my HU yet, but logic dictates that if the whole left side is cutting out at once the wires have to be shorting out at a common location. Time to run some better wire maybe?

I'll pop it out and take a look. But now I'm having even more probs with the CD player. There are 4 discs in it right now, but it's reading that there are 6 discs in it. It also won't eject any of the CD's or play them just reads player error and the radio comes back on. So now I'm defiantly figuring the CD player it self is just shot.

All cds bought or burned.
It never cuts out on the radio. I can go from radio with all 6 speakers working. Push cd and the left side cuts out. Push radio again and all of them work instantly.
Thanks again to all
