All the replacements I can find say front or back, to mine understanding the front ones go on the two downpipes and the back ones goes on before and one after the catalitic converter. I also understand they work in pairs so the ones in the downpipes are the same as well as the two of the catalitic converter are the same.. Any assistance. Thanks

Bank 1 is always on the side with the #1 plug so in your case Bank 1 is drivers side.

Also Sensor 1 is before the cat and Sensor 2 is after the cat.

Bank 1 Sensor 1 is drivers side before the cat (i.e. upstream of the cat).

So you have 4 02s with only one cat? I also own a 96 Impala SS with dual cats. That car has one 02 before each cat and one 02 after each cat for a total of 4.

In CA, you would not be allowed to change to true duals. You could only go dual after the cat.

Emissions wise, you may not be able to do it since the PCM will need to have inputs for both cats. If emissions are not an issue, you may be able to get away with not having sensors on one of the cats since you already have sensors in the down pipes for fuel/air mixture readings.

A good muffler shop may also be able to tell what is legal in your area for converting to duals.

Thaqnks for the input.. Right now I have no cat converter on my single exhaust.... So here is my current layout.... One in each down pipe, and two before the muffler..... I understand that there are only two types of O2 sensors but there is two of each...... Question comes down to which ones are the same?????? If I can resolve this issue I believe I can figure out what the best way to make the dual convertion will be.... Any other ideas or inputs?
