Wrangler Exhaust Leak

My 95 YJ 4 cyl definitely has an exhaust leak somewhere under the hood but I can't locate it. My header is not cracked and it is bolted securely to the downward exhaust pipe. I haven't yet tried re-tightening all of the bolts to the engine block, so that will be my next action. I just replaced the exhaust manifold with a header about a year ago so I didn't think the gasket would go bad that quickly. Are there any other areas on the engine where exhaust would escape? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ther is nowhere on the actual engine block that could let exhaust out, unless you have a crack around your exaust port(unlikely). A Gasket is less than $5 USD, and only takes an hour. Make sure you scrub all of the old gasket off(use brake cleaner), that is the only reason a gasket would go bad that early.

There was also a recall on some 97's (under federal 8/80 emissions law), substandard bolts were used to secure the manifold to the head. You may want to check the bolts while you're replacing the gasket, and make sure they're good.
