today i repleaced my termosta with out first draining the coolent. i got it in most of the coolent came out. now i tired reflining the cololent but it is not levaing the overflow tank . what can i do

take off the rad cap and pour it in there. It should flow into the rad by itself tho, so check to see if the lines crimped anywhere.

its a 96 cavalier 2.2l theres no rad cap( i wish there was)

heres your fix. you've got vapor lock in a bad way. there are two bleed valves on your 2.2 cav. one is on the metal pipe that runs in front of your engine block the other is on the right hand side of the engine by the thermostat. (hard to describe position) it is atop the big metal block that connects to the big radiator hose. BE VARY FREAKIN CAREFUL WITH THESE BLEED VALVES!!! THEY TWIST OFF VERY EASILY!!!! the best thing i've found to do is to get the car hot and shut it off. next open the valve by the thermostat and squeeze the air out of the hose adjacent to the valve (you will probably have to remove the air intake). with the hose squeezed, close the valve and release the hose. This should cause a suction effect and pull the coolant out of the resevoir. You'll probably have to do this process several times over the course of a month to get all the air bubbles out. BE CAREFUL. dont get burned and good luck.
