Ok. hears the scoop. I bought my 93 cavalier with the abs light on. I thought "well i might not need it, so o well". Went through wintertime and almost got in a few accidents. So now i figure, might as well use it. So, i figure its just the sensors dirty. I took the 2 front wheels off, took the sensors off, and cleaned everywhere and everything that has to do with the abs. (It really needed to be cleaned, alot of oil and dirt built up in there, grose stuff.) Anyways, i took my car for a ride after, and the light still comes on after it hits 40km. (Note, the abs works until i go over 40km and the light turns on) So now, i figure maybe the sensors in the rear drum brakes are dirty. Now, i have No clue how to get to them or how to clean them, this im going to need my help and advice on. So any comments are appreciated. =)

Note ABS does not work below 40k/h ....okay, here's the deal. You get in your car in the morning and start the car. The ABS system goes through a series of self checks. It opens the isolate and dump vales ...the clicking sound you often hear when you first start your car...if all is well, the system than waits to hear from the wheel speed sensors. If a wheel speed signal is not present by 40k/h the ABS light is turned on and the sysytem shuts down....cleaning these sensors wont do anything for them (other than make them look good)....you need to take it to a shop where they can pull ABS codes and tell you what sensor(s) is no good.....ABS sensors often require wheel bearing replacement, as they are built into the hub, and can be very expensive.....make sure you inspect all wiring going to the sensors first. But you need to pull the ABS codes, this wont cost you much, and well probably save you alot of time.

Ok, thanks for the info. BUT. are you Sure it dont work unless i go over 40? Because when i pull out of my driveway and drive forward and stop at the stop sign on ice (not even close to 40), the abs Does kick in and helps me stop. And now, as for the other sensors. I have another cavalier same year as mine that im using for parts, and the abs in it does indeed work. Now, i can take all the sensors and that off that car because the abs works in it. Will this help? Im just trying to narrow everything down and do it myself as i dont have any money =)
