My Civic...

The project started 4 months ago. Dead stock 1994 Civic EX, not maintained well at all, salt water oxidation on the roof and trunk from surfboards, surfrack rash all over the roof. But for $2,200, it's hard to beat for a good running car.

Little did I know how much fun this car would turn out to be. I started Auto Cross racing when I got this car... And that's opened SO many doors, I can't believe it. Sponsors, free money, free car parts... It's great.

Now the project is at this point... Specifications below.

Mmmm... Track meat.

-Megan High Flow Catalytic Converter (stock exhaust from there back, stock sound)

At the moment, the car is being stripped down for the swap... Coming VERY soon:

-ACL Bearings
-Micropollished, Balanced Crankshaft (for 9,000RPM)
-B16A Head
-Golden Eagle VTEC Conversion kit

-Full Crome tune
-Fidanza 400hp Axels
-Avid Motor mounts
-RC Engineering 310cc Injectors
-Mandrel bent Cat-Back exhaust with Magnaflow XL Performance Muffler (NO NOISE)

It's almost done... A few more weeks and have a little torque monster :evillol:

I'll post some pictures of me racing later... They're pretty sick. :D

Other Modifications soon to come:

-Wire tuck in Engine Bay, smooth over old mounting holes, new paint in the Bay.
-Phaseone front lip with Vision side markers
-New paint on fenders, front bumper, rear bumper, and hood
-New O.E.M Side Skirts (Mine are torn to Shit)
-Roll Cage
-Sparco 5 point harness
-Sparco Torino Racing seat (Drivers side only)

So what do you guys think?

Golden Eagle VTEC Conversion kit, whats that?
LS/CRV-vtec conversion kit. Comes with everything you need to do the head swap, without having to take it to a machine shop.

Sounds like one sick setup man. I'd be interested to hear what kind of numbers you'll be pulling, considering a fairly similar setup.

It basically gives you all the fitting, lines, adapators, etc you need to do the conversion. You need to buy the head, ecu, etc seperatly of course. Back in the day, people who did cr-vtec/ls-vtecs bought all the hposes and fittings themselves. Golden Eagle basically has packedged all those extras and put them in a kit for sale. Basically easy to find and purchase...you get it all in one shot...for a price.

AudioGuy93DelSol, Three Zeds

I went from Zeds, to a Civic, because it is physically impossible to even work on Zeds. They're not smart daily drivers, and seeming as I'm 18, and I'm in need of a reliable Daily Driver... Civic is smart.

Anyways, I'll make sure to post Dyno videos and numbers, along with Timeslips... Should be a pretty nice set-up, I've just got to get a BIT more money.

That looks nice. What are your plans after the engine swap?

-6-Point Roll Cage... Getting it ready for VIR (Virginia Internation Raceway)
-Koni Yellows
-Eibach Sportline
-Suspension Techniques front and rear anti-roll bars
-Sub frame spacers and enforcement (spreads the stress out over a wider area... So the Subframe doesn't tear)

That will square away the Suspension for a bit... As for the motor:

-JE 85.00mm 11:1 Compression Ratio Pistons (it should be around 12.2:1 with the B16 Head)
-Eagle Rods (I'm taking a gamble there... I've heard they've been breaking lately)
-Knife-Edged Crankshaft
-Dart Sleeves
-Skunk2 Camshafts and valvetrain (Going for revs into 11,000RPM)
-Full head rebuild, port matched... The works.
-ARP Head Studs (I'll more than likely do these with the original swap)
-PWR Radiator
-Oil Cooler of some sort.

And honestly... I'll be good with that car for years to come. Even though I'm thinking many, many months down the road. It's been a really fun project so far. I'm looking forward to see where it takes me next :)

That thing will be pretty damn nice when done (it is pretty damn nice right not too).
I got my 1994 EX with 122k (130k now) for $1500, very well maintaine with all service records and very mild sun oxidation on roof and trunk, I just wax it with a cheap buffer from time to time. Before I disliked civics now I started to like them, handle alright, tons of aftermarket and if fast and looks stock can suprise lots of people.

Hey Zed, are you sure your going to use Skunk2 cams? I've heard alot of bad things about them, including build quality, and company support. Just wondering if you've heard that.

I've never heard a single bad thing about their cams, I have however heard (and seen pics online) of their valves breaking off.

very nice set up and sounds like it'll be getting better!

what class do you run in now and what class with you be running in once done?

also why are you aiming for such high revs with that head setup your cams will be wheezing out.

I like the car alot and hope to see some action shots of her!

keep us in the loop

As of now I'm running in H-Stock... However, technically I should be running in Street Modified because of the Modifications I have (We have a very lax group of people who race in these events... No one really cares, unless you're dominating)

After the swap is done, I'll be running in Street Modified... Yep, with the big boys :)

The mechanic who has been coaching me along with this swap has B20 VTEC in his '92 Hatcback. Same set-up that I listed... His car revs deep into 9,000RPM without any power loss. His last build revved into 11,000RPM.

I didn't believe it either... Until he took me for a ride. My neck still hurts

As for some action shots... Here you go. Although these are before the ANY modification was done... The car is dead stock here. Note: Body roll :D

I've got more... I'm just too lazy to upload them right now.
