Ok going DET but not in my G20 - yet, doing it in my 200sx (first). Anyways I'm on the east coast (KY) and I need a decent reliable source, or someone who can ship for a decent price. Any ideas? The SE-R.net mailing archives are down so I cant search there.....
I'd like to get this rolling as a friend who can help majorly with the install is in town for a few months and I have the money in hand.... But I can't find anywhere to spend it lol....
Help! lol
Thanks
Chris

There is a place in Raleigh, NC. I cannot remember the name off-hand. I'll have to look it up. Hmmm.... maybe Japan Direct.

Looks like I'm getting the motor for 1600 to my door - can you beat that price Luke? Also - the car was a 1.6L and apparently there is someone in CA that converts the engine harness to the 2.0 you happen to know the guy? And finally JWT can program the 1.6 ECU to run the 2.0L Turbo program - can ya get any deals on that???? I've got a new found bud at $tillen but doesn't look like it will do me much good :-(

i am not familiar with the 1.6..is it stil lint he SR family? if not, most likely u'll need to get a tranny as well...and $1600 does NOT include trannies..if it does, its kinda too good to be true even though it does not come with ecu/harness.
what you can do, is what i am doing, just find a obd1 ecu/harness from a sr20de that way u can run the car right off the bat without getting it remapped by jwt (remap when you want to get more power).
i can probably get the motor to you for $1700 to your door, that's with me inspecting and stuff..but it's up to you.

Luke - Ill keep ya in mind incase my other deal doesn't work out, and you are correct - I need the 2.0L tranny, and axles for the car..... the only other thing I am unsure about is the radiator, but I am tempted to buy the NISMO radiator anyways....
The 1.6L isn't in the SR family, instead the GA16DE
And for momog20 - expect around 200+ HP from a DET. From what I've read you also need a heafty exaust, you get a damn big power gain when going to 3" all the way back, but its expensive as it requires lots of fab work. The engines run great, they are the same motor already in your G except they have a turbo and some minor diff's in the block.....

ACK! Not true Luke. You cannot just run run a DET with a OBD1 ECU. You cannot do that with the Bluebird ECU either since it's programmed for a different MAF.
You told me you are adjusting the fuel and/or spark with black boxes. You need to either do this or get the JWT ECU.
If you run the Bluebird ECU, you need the Bluebird MAF as well.
The JWT ECU is straight plug and play.

me gonna using a fuel controller to fine tune the motor with the ecu/harness i am going to get...and i am also running it with a obd1 ecu so it would OK to do so. of course, everything's better and easier if i can get a bluebird ecu/harness..but it's very hard to come by and like i mentioned before, there's 4 different kinds of ecu/harnss for the BB motor, so chances are i am not gonna find the right one. however, using a obd 1 ecu/harness is by no means "jerry-riggin" the motor, just another way to do it. however, if you go with this route, you HAVE to get a fuel controller and fine tune the motor on a dyno, or your motor won't be running at the level it should be. without the fuel controller, your motor would run, at the best, probably 80%, fine tuning on a dyno can get the motor running at 95%....i've seen p10s with det swap, using factory obd1 ecu/harness that puts down 235hp at the wheels with dyno tuning!! that equals to about 260-270hp at the motor with just a fuel controller. I am using an apex AFC btw.

Are you talking about a stock SR20DE ECU?
Something to consider is that by the time you get the wiring harness and the fuel controller, you're pretty close to the price of a JWT ECU.
Anyway, my point was that you cannot just run a DET with a DE ECU. You have to either have JWT reprogram the ECU or use a fuel controller.
My main reason for posting is so that others don't think they can run a DET off a stock DE ECU with no modifications.

yeh, of course u cant' just run the factory ecu with the DET motor without using a fuel controller to fine tune it. (even though without the fuel controller, the motor would still run...just not very good)
i am not going with JWT because they arent my favorite people to talk to and also cuz we can remap ecus in house. right now just gonna run stock ecu with apex AFC and remap it later when i save up enough for the hks GT25 turbo...ball bearing baby!!
as for the pricing...it's much cheaper for me to just get the afc cuz i can get it at almost free hehe...anyway, for those that like JWT, it's definietly the place to go for ecu tuning..i think they charge 5-600 for the first remap and if you get like bigger turbo or whatever, you need to remap it again if you want it running right and i believe they charge 100 for each addition remaps? expects lots of down time as well...because they WONT make YOUR ecu a priority.

OK. I'm not trying to start an argument with you in any way Luke. I know that you know, but the way you first wrote about it might confuse some people. I just wanted to clarify. :D

it's good that you pointed it out, i dont want to confuse people in anyway as well. :D
oh, i need a favor from you though...since you're in touch with all the SE-R people, can you email people around to see if they have a obd-1 ecu/harness? I prefer it off a P10 but i know it's all the same...oh, make sure it works hehe.
thanks!!

You got it Luke. I'll see what I can do. There are a few people with parts cars around. I assume all you really want is the engine harness (everything connected to the ECU).
