It used to be that way but IMO nowadays cops are targeting the sport bikes more than flashy, dashy cars.
I've never been pulled over by law enforcement in my red GTP.
Things you can do are avoid street racing and stay out of no cruising zones, if any in your area. Be observant, try to stay close to any posted speed limits and have a decent radar detector.
We're all at risk and it doesn't make any difference what car you drive.

yea that makes sense, im definetly considering investing in a radar detecter though. thats good to know though about those pocket bikes too, i noticed people probably going over speeds of 110 on those things, its crazy, i can see why cops would be more attracted to them.

IF you look young, or are an attractive female, a Red car will increase attention from the Police. I love my Red GT, but I have to be more careful of my speed (heads-up display is a WONDERFUL thing). I'm 38, but look much younger, and I attract attention from the authorities. My last car was a white Cavalier convertible, and it went under the radar more than my current red GT, so I believe you need to be more careful in a red car. BTW, I've never been pulled over in my car, but I feel the eyes upon me.

Cops don't care about the color of your car. It's all about their ticket quotas. Drive careful on holidays and toward the end of the month...that's when their quotas come due.
As for radar detectors, I've seen some people hook them up so that the unit is nicely tucked away in the compartment where the HUD switch is supposed to go. I don't know much about Whisler, but I think that's the brand that's small enough to fit there.

I have a Red GT.
Since I am female, I hope that is what I am NOT attracting! ;)
But, I drive like a gramma most of the time, so I dont attract too muh attention. (exept when I get road rage!)
My parents used to tell me that red cars have more accidents and cost more to insure.
I think they lied!

It is true that red cars attract more attention from police, it's been shown that red is an eye catching color and stimulates the brain in such a way that we become more agressive like a bull does when the matador waives the red cape.

i always heard more sports cars were red was the reason insurance was higher, like in the 90's, every vette or viper they showed advertised where always red.

I don't care if red attracts bulls, as long as it doesn't attract pigs. I know that's a slam against law inforcement, but I thought the analogy was funny. I actually respect police and don't refer to them as pigs, but funny is funny.

just so you know bulls are color blind...i am a police recruit (currently going through the academy) and a psychology major. the color red definitely catches the eye more than earth toned vehicles do, so if you are in a group of speeding cars you may just be the lucky one the radar gets pointed at. radar detectors work. i used to use one, but if you get pulled over and have one, the officer will make a note of it and you will have next to no chance in court of getting out of your ticket. the best thing is just to be safe and use comon sense. if you get pulled over but are polite to the officer, keep your hands in the open, and ask for a warning. you just might get one.

Is it red, is it expensive, does it look and drive fast, is it clean and shiny, does it make your wallet look fat, do you cruise around hot pickup spots? All things you should ask yourself, 8 months is a long time if you have the right car.

you watch too many movies....
Movies? I don't watch much tv let alone movies, if you drive often and long enough you'll see a whole lotta crap that the typical daily driver driving to work and home wouldn't see. And if you know the laws you'd notice some shady business going on. I'll give an easy example, cops that run red lights--they aren't above the law and they know it's against the law but their lazy and impatient. Now take that scenario and turn it in to cops that turn on lights and sirens before the light, cross the light, and then turn siren and lights off. Seems to be a legal procedure but here cops aren't allowed to turn on lights and/or sirens unless there is an emergency that calls for them, to do so without a valid emergency is illegal. So in latter scenario the cop is now committing two crimes, running a red light and illegal use of lights or sirens. And this is just the common thing that even if you only go out and drive once a week you'll probably see once a month. So I'm not getting this from movies, cops are crooked even the best of them do something crooked eventually.

That was my old truck back in Nov 04. A suburban turned in front of me and I t-boned them.
That was kind of a weird situation. The witness drove up and was like "do you need a witness?" as I was in shock after hitting someone. He just left to go to Charlies across the street (bar/grill). Fortunately he came back finally to give a statement to the cops. Nobody was hurt and the kids seemed pretty happy to be going ot their aunts.
The claimed that I had my signal on, but the Sheriff said regardless if I did nor not that I had the right of way.
That accident and going to the wrong Enterprise building allowed me to drive a Grand Prix and I bought one a few weeks later. So it all worked out nicely  .

Never fails, I thought it was something like that. Here's a shot of my wife's '99 Regal LS after some gal backed into to her about a year ago. She told the cop that she did not see my wife while backing up. Wouldn't admit she was on her cell phone too. The imprint is the Saturn's rear bumper. I wonder what her response would have been if it were red??
Come to think of it, my red GTP doesn't have a single ding on it and I've had it over 7 years. Knock on wood! :lol2:

you just described a code 2 response. when responding to a call that is not life threatening but still urgent an officer is only supposed to use his lights at intersections and as needed to get there quickly but without going all out code 1 which is very dangerous....police corruption can be a very bad problem in some areas but your average cop on the street has very altruistic intentions. the standards are higher than you think.

Oh I didn't mention the cop wasn't on his way anywhere he was just impatient and didn't wanna wait at the light. Police here don't get paid enough to care about following all the laws and setting good examples and stuff. They really don't get paid enough considering they have to be willing to put their life on the line. I've seen the responses you speak of but I've also seen the abuse of status and it's more abuse than proper use. The list of crooked things that cops have done around here is tremendously long, some days I think the general population here has more good than the police. This is a major metropolitan city that I talk of not a small town or suburb, cuse I know suburb and small town police are better at being the good guys and setting the good example--maybe cuse they don't see all the shit the city cops see and get fed up with.

Just do something dumb.I agree that driving dumb attracts cops, no arguement there. However, I do think that red cars attract more attention. The car I used to drive, now my Dad's car, was a darker purple and the cops never paid any attention to me. Now, as u can see in my sig, I have a Red GP GT 2 door, and the cops won't leave me alone, especially if I'm comin home thru town anytime after 11. I havn't been pulled over, but I've been followed home by everything from the cop SUVs, to the usual marked Crown Vics, Impalas, and Intrepids, to the cop's unmarked Camero, which i might add is a very nice car:p.
And to Catback23 who's sayin all cops are "crooked," lay off, they're just doin their job. Ya, a few of em are a**holes, but most of the cops that have talked to at saftey checks n all that wonderful stuff are pretty cool, and those are STATE guys, not the local guys that i know. They just get a bad rap cuz they're an authority figure. Not tryin to start a fight, just gettin a word in in their defense.
O, and as to when you said all cops do something crooked at one point or another and break a law, I would agree. However, I would like to ask you if you have ever rolled thru a stop sign, sped, or not used your signal, cuz unless you are God and have never done anything wrong while driving (And if you think you are God, sorry to break it to you, but you're not) then it seems to me that you're being a little hipocritical.
