Missing Sound On Start Up

98 F 150 4.6 V6. When starting I get a slight rumbling sound almost sounds like a diesel engine starting. This only happens when starting the truck. Truck runs great does not use any oil. I have around 60000 km on ford remanufactured engine. I also get alot of pinging unless I use premium gas maybe my timing is out. Any help would be appreciated.
