Progress: Renault 5 Turbo

So, Heller Renault 5 Turbo is my next project. I think that these few parts(look at last pic) fits almost like Tamiya.

Front space was too little detailed.
http://personal.inet.fi/koti/jurva/Renault/Rellu%205%20001.jpg

So I had to make new cooler, and its air dam. Also steering parts, brake booster, battery and washer bottle added.
http://personal.inet.fi/koti/jurva/Renault/Rellu%205%20002.jpg

Im going to add that Lotus turbo and make new exhaust manifold. Also im thinking whether to make air-water cooler.
http://personal.inet.fi/koti/jurva/Renault/Rellu%205%20003.jpg

Pegasus wheels and stock height. Also NSX Brembos to come
http://personal.inet.fi/koti/jurva/Renault/Rellu%205%20004.jpg

Here are the rest parts. Instrument panel, steering wheel and engine parts are separated.

This is Heller kit.
There is lots of scratchbuilding on this one. Interior needs pedals, engine bay way more stuff.

Haven't seen many R5 Turbo's around here. It looks verry promissing. I'll follow this one!

Cool stuff, my parents used to have one of these! It was non-turbo, though. Nice work on the engine, but I'd take other rims (or, at least dechrome them...). But that's just me, build it the way you like it.

Jurva
07-24-2005, 12:46 PM
I dont intend to left those wheels like that. They look awful with all that chrome. How about black. And also darkened rear windows too.

Jurva

I throw rims to brake fluid. Gunmetal probably?

Engine almost done. Im not sure for that air intake. Now it doesn't get fresh air.

Nobody seems to be interested on this one, so i'll update a bit.

-Modified safety gage added
-Remote reservoirs to shocks
-Computer box

Pretty cool stuff! To me it also seems that the cold air intake isn't going to take in much cold air the way it's mounted now... I'm not an expert on that subject, but you could make some kind of scoop to let the air in, right?

About those wheels; I'd pick some smaller ones, but if you want to keep them a polished aluminium color would be nice. But gunmetal will look good, too! It's all up to you!

Don't be discouraged, sometimes people just look and don't add replies!
Having said that, the kit is looking very cool! keep up the great work!

Little preview what's to come. I've removed the chrome and painted them with gunmetal looking. Car wont be that low either.

I stole belts from 206. Also cutted those Sparco emblems from 206.

206 gave brembo emblems to these NSX brakes.

I love the rims!!!

Jurva
08-05-2005, 06:28 AM
Yes, I'm going to keep that color.
I stole those front lights from Escort MKII. I painted those center light yellowish.

http://personal.inet.fi/koti/jurva/Renault/Rellu%205%20021.jpg

I added BMF to those lights. Here is comparison with and without bmf.

looks nice, but i think the wheels are too big, maybe a nice set of 15's?

that engine looks really nice, with the intake problem, you can just make a pipe from it to either a roof scoop (i think these renaults had one) or to a scoop on the side.

oh yeah, just a little annoying thing, the yellow lights should be mounted lower than the clears. yellows are usually foggys and need to be low.

that colour has an unusual effect on that car, it gives it an aggressive yet classy appearance.

Jurva
08-05-2005, 08:05 AM
I'll change those headlights, they're not glued yet.
I might have to do some kind of scoop from the side vent over the left rear fender(long sentence  ).

I think im going to stick with those wheels. Why? They seem to be too small for any other car i've tried them on. And kit rims could do, but i dont have any tires for them (only slicks came with the kit).

Hey,

I didn't like the body in the 1st pics. But, you have turned this into something awsome! Wow man! Are these AWD cars or just RWD? Keep up the great work!

You certainly are going to town on this. Lots of detail. Very ambitious.

I really like your belts. Much better than the decals. But, isn't there supposed to be another belt coming up from the front of the seat?

Keep posting the pics. Fun to watch.

Aluminium pipe.

This is the best detail in my opinion. Parts tree modified with lighter. :) Adds so much realism.

I'm interested to know about the antena & lighter trick

Hi,

Nice stuff! I like those fog lights, and the antenna also! About the antenna; If you want, you can make it even more realistic by dipping the end in some melted plastic. So you have the eh... the thing on top, the ball or whatever it's called. The results is like this;

Jurva

I'll try that.
Turbo inlet is from some carbureted car.
