Yesterday while I was driving around I saw an older BMW 735i. On the other side of the trunk lid was an M// emblem. Is this real? Anyone shed any light on this?

I doubt it. Sounds like a rice ploy.

If BMW doesn't make one, someone else will. Like Schnitzer, Hartge or one of the other German tuners. The new E65 7 Series will have a great engine to work with.

The alpina B12 6.0l can be considered as the fastest 7 in the world i think.... with the V12 6.0l...

Imagine how much an M7 would cost..... if the top of the line 750iL is almost $100,000 US.....

Yeah, you'd have to be talking a solid buck twenty.. easily.

Well, it could put up some good comp for the S600.

I was thinking about that too. It would have its work cut out for it to compare with the S600, but hell, they're BMW, they can take them. In my book, BMW seems to be able to put out the product that I would prefer in a head-to-head every time, in my ever-so-subjective opinion, except for all-out comfort (my dad and I sat in a bunch of Bimmers and Benzes at the NY Auto Show, and we agreed just about across the board in every size class that we were able to sit in both for comparison's sake that the comparable Benz was more comfy). 'Course the thing is for me that I'd take an edge in performance over comfort anyday.

Maybe the bulletproof one... but a 750 is only around 70k

The Original 7-Series never made it to the M division. Instead, BMW put a turbocharged version of the 3.5 liter engine the 7. It was called the 745i, and was only available with the 3 speed auto (it was the only tranny in the parts bin that could take the torque). The hp was close to that of the M6. Some people call it the M7 that never was, but it still has the stock suspension, and the auto trann didn't really make it that fast. Now if it had an M5 tranny, then it could be pretty fast, almost as fast as an e28 M5.

Um, I don't think so. My business partner drives a BMW 750 and he paid about 102K For it in all. MSRP is 92000 something. The 740iL protection is about 100000 also and the 750iL protection is upwards of 120000.
Seeing as how the BMW M5 adds roughly 20 grand to the price of a 540i, I would bet on about 25 grand additional to the new 745i sport model for the M designation if this ever happened. They wouldn't do an M car with a V12 in it because it would be more trouble than benefit IMHO. Look how Mercedes did their AMG S55. Anyway I would say probably in the neighborhood of 100K for an M7 with a V8 engine in probably 2004.
Anyone buying an Mercedes S600 is a fool plain and simple. They depreciate terribly. At the local dealer here there is a 1999 600 on the lot with 17k miles for 88K dollars and the original buying price was 133K!
Mercedes suck anyways...

My bad your right on the 750... I was thinking about the price on the 740.
On the other subject the only thing mercedes has that I wish BMW would wake up and add to their line is a retractable hard top.

With the way styling is going these days i dont know about that. I think the current Z3 is a gorgeous car and fret at the idea of something like an x coupe being spawned. Call me classical or old fashioned, but im not sure BMW could make a ht convertible attractive. Look at the new Lexus SC for example.. ewwww

What G$ said. I didn't care too much for the magazine and promotional photos I saw, but the first time I caught a glimpse of one on the road, I was ogling it big time, and very surprised when I realized that what I was seeing was the new Lexus sport coupe!! Some cars just don't look that good in photos, but are real beauties when you see them in real life (on a similar note, as beautiful as the Saleen S7 looks in the pictures, in real life, I thought the thing was absolutely heart-stopping!!).

Well, it wasn't on a street or anything (believe me, I would have posted that one in the "Car Sightings" forum), it was at the New York International Auto Show this past April.
G$, without playing it up too much.. it was absolutely beautiful. Remember as a kid your first time laying eyes on a super exotic like a Ferrari or Lambo? That's about how I felt seeing it first-hand.. that's a pretty strong reaction for a 24-year-old!

No ///M 7 was ever made just a sports edition. There are a few people though that are thinking to supercharge their 7's. One gentlemen has got 340hp with supercharge and 6 speed manual conversion in the pipeline. S600's do depreciate badly my dad's got one but they dont suck cos 7's depreciate even worse lesson is better off buying flagships 2nd hand. The s600 V12 is far superior and more powerful than the BMW V12 till the 760iL.

I own one before, 252 hp. all option including el. rear seat. It was a 1982 mod. 3 speed trans. A fantastic car with unbelivable handling. But of course newer cars like my 535iA M from 1991 has better handling with the suspention from M5.
