True it did open up the import scene. However it also opened up a bunch of 16 year old kids that think yeah can put an intake and a fart can on a honduh civic, and believes that it is the fast thing on the street, and also i encourages people to do totally stupid shit that not only puts there life in jeopardy, but also the life of others because. And about my TYC Tailights. I didn't by them cause they said F & F on the box. Hell I would have bought them if it said my little pony on the box. I bought them because they looked a hell of a lot better than the stock tailights, they went with the scheme of my car, and also they where only $60 of ebay.

i know that the first fast and the furious turned me onto learning about cars. now when i look back at the movie, i see a number of parts in the movie that have incorrect/stupid information

I met Eddie Paul, the guy who did all the cars for F & F, at a san diego car show. No one seemed to know who he was, neither did I, except I asked him. I was too busy checking out cars, I never had a chance to grill him for some of his ridiculous designs and paint schemes. Plus, what the hell is up with a 420a in the green eclipse? Had he known a single thing about cars and car cults, he wouldve done up a 4g63. etc, etc, etc. BUT, I guess those sortsa movies arent for pppl who are actually into cars...they are all commercial BS, and they sell what ppl want to see I guess...

Uh, thats not what he told me. He said that he was incharge of what stuff would attract a crowd to the theatres, so he came up with... neon underbody lights. And a really loud paintjob. I wish I had his job, i'd make some sic assss lookin rides.

It was really embarassing because no one knew him at ALL. His booth was EMPTY, poor guy was just sitting there, so I said "I'm bart simpson, who the hell are you?" . lol. At least he had a good sense of humor.

here is information on the 3G in the movie. the actual car that was used in the movie had NO performance mods done to it other than a short shifter(if you want to call that a performance mod). it did have all the electronic eyecandy stuff done to make it more appealing. now the car that the 3G was based off of has a RIPP supercharger on it and is located in Florida. this is the car that the movie 3G was based off of... http://www.wnycarclubs.com/fastfurious.asp

you say the eclipse has a turbo....WATCH THE MOVIE AGAIN. in the scene after they race to the boat yard, paul walker and tyrese take the eclipse and evo to the chinese dude to have the electronics checked. after he checks the evo, they walk back to the eclipse. you get a quick shot of the engine. IT STILL HAS THE STOCK INTAKE ON IT!!!!

Yeah and did you not notice that when they are looking at the engine in at the shop that there is no turbo on the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And also it was a Dodge Challenger that he was racing not a ford mustang :nono:

just a little side note has anyone seen the new civic (concept maybe) they are actually beefing it up 200bhp and the new body style looks pretty nice. saw it in road and track the other day just wondering if anyone else has seen it yet?

This is the only engine shot of the Spyder engine in the movie and I can't tell if there is a turbo, but I sure don't see the stock intake, and it sure don't look like my engine.

I know that the F&F series has some corny scenes and special effects (especially 2F2F, the first one wasnt so bad) and stupid stuff done to nice cars, but they are the first car movies to come out in a long time and I like watching them.

It's got a drees up kit and that is it. Look at the front part of the engine. there are no pipes or anything there. If there was a turbo there would not be that much shape towards the front

OMG! They should have at least installed a stage 1 Ripp and used a mic on a real BOV. I'll bet they spent 10 times or more over a Ripp SC for the sound effects dubs.

those are actually turbo BOV sounds. the RIPP bov isnt that loud.

why throw $5000 into a car when you can spend $50 and make it sound like you dropped $5000 into the car?

Speaking 2F2F did anyone else notice that the exhaust had fallen off the Camaro in the seen where they are looking under it. The thing that makes it great is that Paul Walker holding on to it says “it’s clean” and then it moves side to side when he lets go of it.:D

Well...Gone In 60 Seconds wasn’t as much a car film as the F&F movies are, also that part at the end where he jumps all of those car on the bridge was pretty cheesy, but it was a pretty good movie.

Cheesy doesn’t always mean bad. I know that the Dukes of Hazzard is going to be cheesy but as long as they don’t any of that CG crap like they did in 2F2F it should be a good movie.

And any show that regularly destroyed such beautiful and irreplaceable Dodge Chargers ought to have had its creators, producers, and directors bodily strapped, in turn, to the front ends of those classic Mopars prior to their being launched skyward. :sly:

Bo and Luke weren't idoits they were crazy in the orginal show. But from what I can tell by the previews they and made them just flat out dumbasses. Which is expected considering whom they cast to play the parts.

^^^^You talking about me??? Oh well, i was wrong, I made a mistake. I admit it. And F&F is all about the cars.. its all about looks. Its not about the acting.. or the script.

finally!!! good to see you back. any movie that is going to be under the F&F name is going to be all about exterior. the directors/creators have no reason to drop 20k into a car's engine just for a movie. not when they can do all of the sounds on a soundstage for almost nothing.

Well my cousin worked in the film industry as a purchase consultant for movies. Often they will spend a lot of money for specific aspects, if they feel it will add value to a movie. But fandf probably won't personally spend 20K on a car but may actually do it, but wont race it. They will probably "hire" the car for a few days of shooting from someone who has already modded the shit out of their car. They will shoot a few sceens with the hood up to show all the mods, then they will actually pretty much stock except for exterior for the race scenes so if the stunt driver screws up they are not out mucho money. I'll admit I won't pay money to see the movie, but I'll see it cause I like to watch cars go fast, the acting will be horrable of course, adn plot non existant, but should have some cool cars.

And it was that movie that got me kind of into the whole street racing scene.

actually, in F&F and 2F2F, the race scenes where you are looking into the car(like at the driver), some of those are done on flatbeds.
