Here we go again but just letting the forum know about the steering wheel controls or more to the point the lights in the switches.
Tried to replaced the little bulbs (Radio Shack) and found it not easy to do and it did not look like a factory job.
Checked the price of a new complete unit for the heating controls about $20.00 so I replaced the switch and all is well.
The forum information on removing the switch was right on.
Thanks very much.

Is changing the switches an easy do it yourself? All of mine are out in my steering wheel. Would I just pop out the little cover to them?

On the 2nd gen. I can only tell you that the switches come out as a complete unit, you would have to wiggle it straight up and they will pop right out. I did insert a piece of paper on the airbag side of the switch to make the switch pass the airbag, also made sure I did pick a nice warm day so the plastic was a bit soft. Good luck.
