Ok, I've got a question. What do you use bare metal foil for?

Light lenses (both front and rear), any chrome stripes or window trim, heat shields, chrome shield plates, rim lips, various stripes and fasteners, chrome logos, chrome engine valve covers, motorcycle front forks, discs, exhaust.....etc.
Everything that has to be metal and it is not extremly complex can be covered with BMF.

Yes it sticks fine to gloss surfaces but there is also stuff from Microscale that is similar to white glue to help you stick it if there is not enough surface for it self to stick. Great stuff if you ask me. Here is that glue http://www.scaleracecars.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=kra8&Category_Code=microscale&Store_Code=S

It can be used for masking, too. When you add the second color after masking, a ridge of paint builds up along the masking tape (especially with a spray can), so the thinner the masking tape, the smaller the ridge is.

amazing stuff for detailed masking and window trim
I'd love for someone to tell me a good way to put it on wheel trim in one piece or at least so that the joins are barely visible though - i've tried but failed spectacularly on that kind of shape !!

Thanks guys. Klutz, are you talking about the lip on the rims? I don't know if it will work, but try tracing the foil around the rim. Then cut it slightly smaller than the rim. And attach it. Hard to explain w/o pictures. But here's something you can use to get a chrome like finish.
