hey guys
ok i have a 95' TSi AWD 5sp, w/ 81k

and this is what its doing....
i start my car up and it runs fine, but as soon as it gets up to temp it starts idel surging from almost 200rpms to about 1200rmps.... and almost stalls......and about 1/2 the time it does. and when you get goin, the car lurches (ive also heard it described as "bucking") badly, and usally stalls when you slow down (under 10mph)... and its also leakin fuel from the charcoal canister.. i think its just a bad connection...and just fyi the fuel pump was just changed, its a walbro 190.. but the floatee thing isnt in there correctly, because the gauge doesnt register.....anyways any info any of you can give me would be greatly apprecited!!!!!

What do you want us to say? If you can't fix it, you will need to go to a mechanic who can. You might get some info on the idle issue here or searching DSMtuners.com, the fuel leak is a mechanic thing (i didn't know any fuel went to the charcoal canister), and the fuel pump level you might be best off having a DSMer look at.

First thing I would check is the throttle cable tension. As the motor heats up, the cable jacket expands, and that can open the throttle if there isnt enough slack in the line to start with ;) Somewhere on here I posted a detailed procedure to adjust it, takes 1 minute with a 10mm wrench/socket. Search "throttle" and enter my user name in the user name section, for the main section and the performance section. If you don't have any luck with the search let me know.

Ah screw it, I'm feeling generous. I found many threads, but this one looks the most promising.

Try to do this correctly. If you still have the same problem we can get into further troubleshooting if you want.

For the canister/level problem you're on your own. Very hard to offer any help over the internet for these things. I would bet the fuel pump install is to blame, if these problems both started at that time.
