Turn signals do not work

I have a 1991 Buick Century. The turn signals today did not work. I checked the hazard lights and lights and they all work. I suspect it is the turn signal switch. I have two questions. Is the switch located in the steering column? And, and how do you get to it? Any insight will be appreciated.

First, does the turn signal stalk click and hold itself like normal, or does it move freely in either direction. It sounds like a turn signal cam broke. It is a plastic ring that goes in behind the steering wheel.

The turn signal stalk does click and hold itself like normal. This leads me to believe it is not the cam if I am interpreting your response correctly. By the way, it is not the fuse as I checked it.

Are you sure your problem isn't in the turn signal flasher?
You can swap the turn flasher with the hazard flasher to see it makes a difference.

If the flasher is ok you should be able to hear it clicking when you move the signal lever either way. Does the signal indicator light come on but does flash? If this happens it could be a burnt out bulb.

Ok, I am thinking it may be the flasher. Where can I find it on a 91 Buick Century?

The flasher is a small probably alumunum colored cylander, possbly yellow plastic. It is about the same diameter as a half dollar and is about an inch and a half tall. To get to it, you have to remove the lower portion of the dash under your steering wheel and fish around for it. It should have a metal clip on it. There are two--one for your blinkers and one for your hazards so you have to make sure you get the right one. They are only 2 or 3 dollars at a parts store.

Thank you for the tip and advice. I had previously found it under the dash just as you suggested. Once I replaced the flasher, the blinkers worked perfectly. Purchased the flasher at my local NAPA dealer for $3 and it took me 10 minutes at most to make the switch. Thanks again for all of the help.
