Brakes Popping

I put brakes on my ranger about a year ago and sometimes they pop when i put them on. This comes from the front end. I was told by someone that maybe my pads are missing a clip? i dont know what clip they would be missing. also i never replaced the rotor, just pads, rotor seemed to be ok.. any suggestions?

Hows you brake fluid level? Did you bleed the brakes?

brake fluid is right up.. i never took the calipers off so no i never bleed my brakes.. should i have?
