ive read some other posts on the new style jimmy hatches sqeaking and they dont really apply to my truck. ive got a 1990 2-door and the back hatch sqeaks like crazy. it used to only do it when it was cold (im in texas so i could live with it for a month or two) but now it does it all the time. ive replaced the struts, tightened the latch and strikers, greased it, everything! i wa even told to put electrical tape on the latch part to see if that was the loose part. it worked, too, until the tape got a big crease in it from the latch. any ideas orrecomendations would be great.

Mine does the same thing, if you look at the chrome plated strike bar on the gate you will probably find that the plating has worn through. The smooth chrome plating acts as a hard sliding surface, when it's gone it's just steel to steel. Grease might work for a while, but it goes away and it's squick time again.
If your's is like mine, you'll probably find the latch portion in the tailgate is also worn. Instead of being a straight piece you find the indentation of the bar worn in it. I picked up a latch from the junk yard, but it's also worn somewhat. I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet, but I'll have to do it soon, this thing is driving me crazy.
If anyone knows of a source for these parts let us know.
Hope this helps.

i hadnt looked at that part yet, but i do know a good website that has all sorts of good parts for stuff like that. its called rockauto.com. you go on to it and specify make, model, year, engine and then itll break it up by different catigories. its pretty cool. ill check those parts and let you know what i find
