Hey everybody, I really enjoy this site, you all are really cool! I plan on getting a spec V next week, and I am very excited. But, I have to options, and I thought some experts like the folks on this site might be able to help me decide. SORRY THIS POST IS SO LONG!!!
Here are my choices:
1.) Used... '02 Spec V, Silver, Loaded with all options except ABS, even has in-dash 6 CD, and the guy added Enkei rims. He has had it since December, and two trips to Colorado (From Wisconsin) have tallied over 11K miles. He wants $16,600.
2.) New... Found a dealership with a new one. Black with no options.. only floor mats. MSRP is $17618. Said he would give it to me for $16850.
My tastes... I prefer Black to Silver. I just can't decide if all those options are a good trade for the miles that are on. I already have some nice audio equipment, and I wasn't impressed with the Rockford Fosgate. I think it sucks that you have to get audio fanatic in order to get a sunroof. I would love the sunroof, but it's pretty expensive? The only other factor in price is that with the new one, I can get 5.9% financing through Nissan, while for the used one I can get 6.75%.
What's everybody think? Thanks everybody!!

Drive over here to San Diego. At the dealership I got mine at, they had 3 last week. Red, White, and black.
If you would be interested in coming here to get a brand new one, I will go to the local dealership and find out what they have available for you.
I am really happy that I have the ABS. You can always get different rims and a better stereo later. The ABS and side air bags does take a couple of dollars off of your insurance too!
Just post a reply if you are interested in making a trip to SD.

Dude!
Get the new Spec V from the dealer. Don't buy a second hand car.

i recommend to get a new SE-R for 2 main reasons.....
1) there's plenty of aftermarket stuff.
2) You'll kno the whole history of your car

I would go for the new one if the price for both are practically the same. and 11k on it in only what 6 months .. thats killer. 2k a month is alot takes me what atleast 8 months to do 11k.. ...:bloated:
but my point is new car with nothing is okay personally i think the car is great by it self. but your right about the sunroof gig... nissan screwing everyone over on that. but go for the brand-smakin-new-one!!! ;)
:D :D :sun: :flash:

Hey everybody. Thanks for the advice. I picked up my new Spec V last night. I had to drive 250 miles to Chicago to get it, but it was well worth the trip. The way I see it, I saved my new car from a lifetime of Gridlock on the Chicago parking lots (I mean interstates). I paid $16,700 + registration, tax, etc... I think I got a great deal, considering these are hard to find, and most dealerships aren't offering much discount of MSRP.
Today is like Christmas for a 10 year old. I can't wait to go out and put a few miles on it. I am so excited.
I plan on replacing the head unit, with a Kenwood KDC-7011 flipface CD player that I already own. I also have some decent Kenwood 6x9 from a previous vehicle that I will use. Because I already own some audio equipment, I didn't want the Audio Fanatic Package from Nissan. I wasn't very impressed with it when I checked it out.
As far as performance mods. I will definitely check out painting the brake calipers. (thanks to SentraFi for posting the steps to doing that)That looks really cool. I am not sure if I want to put in the CAI now, or wait a while. I think I might wait a year or two until the warranty is close to finished, then put on a CAI and upgrade exaust, and think about either a Turbo, or NOS.
I have a couple more questions. First, does NOS affect the lifetime reliability of the engine. I am hoping to own this car for 150k miles+, and wouldn't want to shorten the life of the engine by upgradeing or bolting things on. Second, If I take off the Nissan emblam on the front grill, can I put it back on, if I ever needed too? Third, somebody posted that you can fold down the rear seats, but It doesn't seem like that is possible in mine?
Thanks again for the advice.

Well...about your question with the folding back seat...if you didn't get the audio fanatic package then you didn't get the partial fold down seat. Sucks that it's part of an option package. Also...about the sunroof and adudio package required together...i sort of got around that. I got an aftermarket powermoonroof installed by the dealer (lifetime warranty) for only $50 more than the factory installed one. Figured why get the Fosgate stereo when i would just rip it out in 2 months to put new shit in anyways.
