Hey guys,
my Service Engine Soon light started coming on intermmittently last night. Got up to about 70KM/h when it happened, Doesn't appear to be making any wierd noises or anything. Other thing is....I noticed when I put it into gear, the doors don't lock anymore, it used to be when I put it into gear it would lock automatically.
Any ideas what could be causing this? I've checked all my fuses, all of them look good.
So yeah details

The problem could be anything from a misfire to a bad O2 sensor. Take it somewhere and have the computer scanned. This will give you the codes and a place to start looking.

as it turns out, I did take it in, to get looked at. It turned out to be the O2 sensor. The vehicle wasn't backfiring or anything. I had brought it to the dealer, they said that another code coming in was a tune up code. They were gonna charge me like $600 for a tuneup.
I got the car home, changed the sparkplugs and sparkplug cables.........do I ever notice an increase in the take off, and I seem to get a little better gas mileage too. Before when I'd take off, it would seem like it would be bogging. Now I take off, and it goes.

A very smart move on your part refusing to pay the dealer an outlandish sum of money to do a tune-up. Just remember to change the air filter, pcv, fuel filter and do a fluid and filter change in the transmission. It will cost a few dollars but you should be happy with the car and the money you saved.

I agree with Pops,
When you get the trans fluid & filter changed, get a new filter. Some places (I don't call'em shops) want to sell you a flush job that supposedly back flows fluid backwards through the filter and washes your filter. Your filter is flat with a 1/2" inlet to the pump in the corner...there's no way to completely back wash all the surface area...it's just a quick, not even halfa$$ effort.
