Rear shocks replacement

I would like to replace the rear shocks, but how I access to top nuts of the shocks? There is maybe 1 inch of room between the frame and body when looking from the wheel wells.

I would like to replace the rear shocks, but how I access to top nuts of the shocks? There is maybe 1 inch of room between the frame and body when looking from the wheel wells.
The service manual says "remove the top nut". Dosn't mention what kind of clearance you have to deal with. Then remove the bottom retainer. There's also reference to holding the top of the shock housing with a suitable wrench to keep the shock stem from spinning.
There are some precautions mentioned:
1) Disable Air Spring compressor using the OFF switch in the truck.
2) Shocks are pressureized and will extend when loosened.

Yep, the manual is not helpful in terms of suggesting how to deal with the limited clearance.

An inch and a quarter wrench can be used to stop the shock stem from turning versus the stupid little rectangle on top of the stem. Catch the hex just below the lower rubber insulator at the top. The rears baffle me. I cannot believe there is no access panel behind the rear seat or in the trunk to get at the top nut. The only access I see is through the little slot looking in from the wheel side. I purchased Bilsteins for mine and they have an allen key slot on the top to hold the stem from turning. I am going to cut an access hole. DUMB

I've seen recommendations to use a Nut Splitter tool on these too.
