Cooling fan question

My kid's '92 Cierra keeps overheating in traffic jams. Obviously, the cooling fan isn't kicking in. We replaced the sensor at the top of the block, but that didn't fix it. I don't know how many other things there are to check out, but I was contemplating wiring a manually operated switch in the dash that he can just flip on. Does this sound feasible?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I had to replace the fan relay on my '86 Cutlass. I don't know where it is on yours but your favorite auto parts store should have a diagram or maybe a manual to sell you.

Did you check to see if the fan motor is any good?

I recently replaced the fan on my '90 Old Cierra. We replaced the termostat, the radiator fluid, and I even drove from SF to SD. The car was okay on the freeway, but would overheat at an idle. My father replaced the fan and I have no further with it overheating. It was an easy fix. Good Luck, A
