another almost finished kit from me....

..and this time it's an italeri diablo kit.
it went through about three different colour changes before i said 'sod it' and went for good old black.
it's not quite finished as i haven't fit the rear bumper or the headlights on it yet but they're on their way as they're (the headlights) being used as templates at the moment. rear bumper is awaiting polishing.

this is possibly my best polish job so far but unfortunately, it wasn't my best paint job to begin with so there's a few rough edges that i can't compound/polish anymore or else it'll be down to primer.
as i said, the lights are being used on another diablo kit i've recently gotten hold of that i'm trying to replicate the final pre-murcielago version.
here's how it's going.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/158486diablo_10.JPG
as it is, i've only filled in the vents and modified the bumper. it's not 100% as per the real car but it's as close as i can get without doing major surgery. i haven't thought about how to do the rear bumper and twin exhaust yet.
i've also got a stratos on the go that is again, almost finished.
probably my best paint job until i dropped it. not my best polishing job as i haven't quite figured out how to get to all of the akward angles.

my boss is going on holiday next week so that means i will have a chance to finally finish something!
more then.
oh yeah.. them ferraris are also on their way.
big update soon.....ish.

a little update after another looong time.
the black car has been put on hold as i dropped the rear bumper as i was painting it and it's awaiting a fresh paint job before i fit it.
as for the other one (the 6.0 look-a-like).
i've done as much as i can to it and it's all ready and coated with red primer.

here you can see the work done to the front bumper and openings as well as the lights. not a lot i know, but i literally bled getting this done.
should be able to get this painted and finished next week.
gonna be my first time in using automotive paint on a model.
if it goes on as easy as the primer did, then it should be trouble free......
in the mean time, the interior and engine is practically done but not detailed. pics later.

first two coats of paint have gone on that red primer.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/158486lambo_orange.JPG
it's more orange than it looks and the primer is more red than in looks in the previos pics too.
so far, this is the closest match i've found to the old burnt orange that was used on the old LP400.
just in case you're wondering, the primer is Halfords red Plastic Primer and the paint is Halfords Rover Blaze. Hope it sands/polishes up well.....

as promised earlier, here are some pics of the rest of the model.
first up is a pic of the OOB engine sitting in position on the chassis base.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/158486lambo_eng_00.JPG
i've left it "loose" so that when i enventually get the Diablo kit with the final interior update, I can easily rescue it and make a proper 6.0 Diablo model (with extra detailing when my parcel finally arrives...)
anyway.
the engine sitting in it's frame.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/158486lambo_eng_02.JPG
and the interior.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/158486lambo_int_01.JPG
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/158486lambo_int_02.JPG
as you can see, it's in exactly the same paint scheme as the black diablo except the coulour of the "white". I've also scribed a new 6 finger gate (not yet installed) because this interior didn't have one. I also had to reduce the size of the gear shift by about half because for some reason, they always seem to come in the box rediculously over-sized.
more when i get there......

.....digging up my old thread to post some (rare) finished model pics....
they're not brilliant as they were talken in my bedroom under my boggo 60W light under a paper habitat lampshade.
will take better pics when the sun's out again.

a bit dusty..... and there's a couple of duff spots on the paint.tried to get a goos still of the GT4 intro but thre was too much motion blurring....
the engine has ignition wires but you can't really see them buried under the intakes.
seem to have a diablo fetish going on as i now have a third one being modded to (closer) 6.0 bodystyle as this one isn't 100%.
