Hi everybody i'm new to these forums, but not the beautiful birdy, :smokin: prepare for take off... umm sir we have a problem (CHECK :eek7: ENGINE)....

1994 birdy witha 4.6l 111,000 miles :grinyes:

syptoms: Check engine light on for about 9 months.... has known misfire in #4 and #6, Really rich, idles really rough, can feel the misfiring pistons vibrating car.... extreamly slow acceleration, backfires repeatedly after about 3500 rpm, (one shop told me i had bad compression, all cylanders ranging from "90" to "95" and when they skweezed oil on the cylander walls the compression when back up to normal, but had no proof...), and has no power what so ever....

Has been doing this for about 7 months, and spark wires did nothing, plugs did nothing, fuel pump made the gas pump again but nothing to help the engine..., fuel filter and injector flush didn't do anything, tune up did nothing, 02s did nothing, a lil jumpier with new maf, but nothing to change the way the engine is performing. 0-25 in 10 seconds flat!!!

things done: in order of replaced,
spark wires @ 109,500,
plugs 1st set bosch platnums fouled after 9 months, 2nd set motorcraft copper fouled in 1 1/2 months, 3rd set autolight platnums not yet fouled @ about 110,300
new fuel pump (died about 2 months ago)
new fuel filter
flushed fuel lines with new pump, and got my injectors cleaned for free by ford, for the 76 bad gas.
did complete tune up, 110,300
new o2 sensors,
new maf sensor,
new exhaust no cats straight back, (thought it might be pluged)...
fuel pressure regulator,
all filters and fluids.

ford never gave me any codes the last time i took it in for a "palm reading..." they just told me my maf was bad, and i needed a new fuel pressure regulator...

good god i just want my bird back to when i could smoke a geo metro.....
anyways i'll check codes soon to see if anything new has come up, unfortunatly theres no autozone around here so i godda have it checked by some grubby mechanic...

babbling below.....

might be valves? maybe pcm? maybe timing?

is not head gaskets, not bad piston rings (oil would be milky, and it would smoke right? stupid shop... :disappoin: )
anyways i've been all through the forums and found nothing close to what std my car has caught, still driving it, have to no other car, slow as hell, and maybe 8-12 mpg.... its louder than any other v8 around this area, but sounds like crap because of engine problem...

Any suggestions or knowledge i would very much appreciate!!!!

My advice? Find a junked but running bird in a junkyard, do a switch, leave the garage in a cloud of white smoke.

well since it sounds like you're on the path to spending a shit load of money on that bad boy you might want an engine swap. It sounds like its just had it.

the only time i had a misfire (#1) code, was when my # 1 injector died. use an ohmmeter on the coil connection. the injector should read about 14-18 ohms. My problem began as an intermittant problem. would knock, spudder, and shake the whole damn car.
if the resistance is good, unplug the problem cylinders injector connctors while the engine is running and measure the voltage being fed to the injectors. an analog meter will be needed. a digital may not show the voltage accurately. hope this helps

Check your coil packs too. Sounds like an ignition problem. Check the timing. Your computer could be tango uniform. From the work you've described, it does not sound like the engine is dead.
